FAQS - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes Drone Pixel can. Many wedding venues allow drone photography, provided the operation complies with aviation safety regulations and venue permissions.

Drone Pixel specialises in obtaining the necessary approvals for aerial filming, including coordinating with venues and applying for Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) authorisations when required.

As a CASA ReOC-certified operator, Drone Pixel can apply for permission to fly in restricted or controlled airspace (no-fly zones) where approvals are required.

Drone Pixel already holds operational approvals for several controlled and restricted areas across Sydney, including:

    • Sydney Harbour airspace operations

    • areas within Sydney Airport controlled airspace

    • restricted zones near Holsworthy Barracks

    • restricted airspace around RAAF Base Richmond

    • operations in scenic locations such as Kangaroo Valley

This experience allows Drone Pixel to manage complex airspace approvals and coordinate with the relevant authorities when required.

Additional costs may apply where CASA approvals or airspace authorisations are required.

  • We recommend booking your wedding drone photography at least 2–3 months in advance, especially during peak wedding seasons in Sydney.

Some venues require time to approve aerial filming, and certain locations may require airspace approvals through the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Booking early allows Drone Pixel to coordinate with your venue, confirm safety requirements, and obtain any necessary permissions.

While we will always try to accommodate last-minute enquiries, early bookings ensure availability and allow sufficient time for any required approvals.

  • Drone flights are subject to weather conditions and aviation safety regulations. Strong winds, heavy rain, or unsafe conditions may prevent drone operations on the day of your wedding.

If weather conditions make flying unsafe, Drone Pixel will work with your planner or videographer to find a suitable window during the day when conditions improve, such as before or after the ceremony.

Where conditions still prevent safe flight, we can arrange pre-wedding or post-wedding drone sessions to capture cinematic aerial footage of the venue or romantic couple portraits. These sessions can often be scheduled at quieter times of the day when lighting and weather conditions are optimal.

This ensures you can still receive beautiful aerial imagery of your wedding location, even if weather conditions affect flights during the ceremony itself.

All drone operations are conducted safely and in accordance with aviation regulations across Sydney.

  • Yes. Drone Pixel regularly works alongside wedding videographers and photographers to provide dedicated aerial coverage of your wedding day.

Many wedding videographers include drone footage as part of a package, however these flights are often limited and handled by the same operator responsible for the main video production. Drone Pixel specialises exclusively in aerial photography and videography, allowing us to focus entirely on capturing the best cinematic aerial perspectives while your videographer concentrates on ground coverage.

Because aerial filming is our speciality, we also often operate higher-quality drone equipment specifically designed for professional aerial cinematography, delivering sharper imagery, smoother footage, and more cinematic perspectives.

By working with a dedicated drone operator, you benefit from:

    • Specialised aerial expertise and flight planning

    • Professional drone equipment designed for cinematic footage

    • Safe and compliant operations under our CASA ReOC certification

    • Greater flexibility for airspace approvals and complex locations

    • Seamless integration with your wedding videographer’s footage

Our aerial footage integrates beautifully with your wedding video, providing dramatic establishing shots, stunning venue perspectives, and romantic aerial couple portraits that enhance your overall wedding film.

Drone Pixel is happy to coordinate directly with your wedding videographer, photographer, or planner to ensure aerial coverage fits perfectly into your wedding timeline.
